Duties and Responsibilities

Planning – Manage establishment of aggressive but realistic and comprehensive plans for new product development and deployment.
Program Execution – Provide clear direction to globally dispersed, cross-functional teams with uncompromising drive to meet program targets.
Risk & Opportunity Management – Proactive management of risks and opportunities ensuring that appropriate actions are planned and executed for risk mitigation and opportunity achievement.
Organizational Engagement – Engages all levels of Management across the organization by exception to resolve resource conflicts, remove roadblocks, & implement risk mitigations.
Work scope and Change Control – Manage the process of scope definition and change control, including estimating and negotiations of program contract and scope variations.
Program Status – Focal for reporting status of assigned programs at various levels of the organization.
Read and process engineering documents, including process design guidelines, manufacturing drawings, and engineering best practices guides.
Work with Sales and customers to ensure that the requested product specifications are clearly documented
Work with field service technicians and customers to correct product issues and provide product improvements & enhancements
Lead activities to optimize and drive the engineering process, developing operating strategies, plans or procedures.
Create designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to fabricate models that can be tested.
Experiment with and analyze different materials, manufacturing processes, design tolerances, and other factors in the developmental process.
Evaluate the feasibility of selected concepts to meet functional, clinical, and customer needs.
Evaluate the feasibility of concepts and/or prototypes through engineering testing and analysis consistent with customer expectation.
Develop timelines and cost estimates for development tasks and appraise management of performance against plan.
Generate design history documents in compliance with company requirements.
Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, safety or cost consistent with company process.
Obtain components/supplies/equipment to support prototype assembly and conduct preliminary OEM vendor assessment/selection.
Assess reliability, safety, performance, and risk of new designs & methodologies; coordinate and communicate development schedules and compatibility or design issues throughout the team continuously.
Oversee testing and theoretical analysis of products to determine product safety and efficacy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Design experience with structural components and hardware, gearing and/or drivetrains required.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently a must.
Must have good organizational and time-management skills.
Communicate effectively with engineers, drafters, and others within the company as needed. Work well within a team.
Experience in the solar industry a plus.
Design skills such as FEA, DFA, DFM, design for cost, a plus.
Ability to setup tests and run experiments quickly.
Know how in application of design for reliability
Versed in Stage Gate Product Development Processes
Experience working in a matrixed environment, interfacing with high-level internal and external leadership
Excellent communication and team building skills.
Strong computer skills required include spreadsheets, presentations, 3D CAD and ERP.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently a must.
Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SolidWorks.
Ability to setup tests and run experiments quickly.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Education and Experience
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 6 years relevant experience
